Kelly Clarkson Keeps it Real By Calling into Her Talk Show from Quarantine
Kelly Clarkson had to step away from her talk show earlier this week while quarantining at home with her kids after being exposed to COVID-19. But that didn’t stop her from joining the show via video chat and talking to guest host Taraji P. Henson about her new show American Song Contest.
Kelly Clarkson Calls into Talk Show from Home
Clarkson appeared on screen wearing a robe and a sleep mask and holding a mug of coffee. The Voice coach also shared that she’d broken a nail, and all her makeup was expired, so she appeared with a bare face. Later in the video, she even revealed that she still has her Christmas tree up.
“Sometimes women don’t rise, Taraji,” Clarkson joked to her guest host. “Sometimes we fall.”
At least she and her kids have something to watch together, since they’re obsessed with Encanto. Clarkson shared that her son Remington loves to sing the movie’s songs around the house, while her daughter River repeats the characters’ dialogue.
As for Clarkson’s comfort viewing, she says you’ll know she’s “having a rough time” if she watches the Doris Day movie Pillow Talk or reruns of the show Castle.
Clarkson Is Excited About ‘American Song Contest’
It was recently announced that Clarkson will be hosting American Song Contest on NBC with Snoop Dogg. The show, which is an American version of the long-running Eurovision competition, showcases original songs from around the country.
Clarkson said she’s “obsessed” with Eurovision, explaining that she discovered it when she first started traveling overseas after winning American Idol. The singer loves the idea of showcasing songwriting rather than just singing. She was also excited to work with Snoop Dogg again after he appeared as a Mega Mentor on The Voice.
American Song Contest premieres March 21 on NBC. Clarkson joked that she’ll be wearing her robe for that gig, too.
