Global superstar Kelly Clarkson is not undermining the plight of younger generations when it comes to mental health. According to the “Breakaway” hitmaker, it’s always important for kids to tap and be in touch with their feelings.
Kelly Clarkson Sees Value in Kids’ Mental Well-Being
In her recent interview with Audacy’s I’m Listening, Clarkson got candid about her thoughts on mental health. The veteran The Voice coach and mother of two stated that it’s crucial for young people to get to know their emotions.
“I think it’s just a really cool thing that my little girl or my little boy will walk in the room and be like ‘Look, I’m feeling angry right now, and I don’t know why,’ or ‘Look, I’m feeling hurt right now, or this hurt my feelings,'” she said.
According to the pop singer, kids right now are so “advanced” compared to her when she was young. With that, Clarkson believes that there’s “nothing more beautiful” than someone learning at a young age on how to express their mental state.
“I don’t know if everybody knows those cancerous people that can walk into a room, and you feel like they just suck the life out of the room. You don’t realize how your light can actually brighten up a room or you can just take it completely away,” she said.
Clarkson suffered from a tedious and clamorous divorce from Brandon Blackstock from 2020 to 2022. As the two dealt with spousal and child support, it surely affected their two kids River Rose and Remington. It’s thus no shock that the “Stronger” hitmaker feels intense passion to advocate for mental health.
She Hopes that “People Start Paying Attention”
Clarkson stressed that mental health is “the biggest thing.” She then proceeded to say that emotional well-being has a lot to do with what people are putting in their bodies and what they’re doing to the environment.
“I think people are now starting to listen to that because they’re starting to notice what we’re doing is really affecting us and our mental health. So hopefully people start paying attention – and that’s not like a red or blue thing. That’s just a human thing,” she said.Â
Furthermore, the “Catch My Breath” singer stated that people need to “look out for each other more.”Â
“I just think it’s important to always have the conversation and to make sure people feel like it’s possible to express themselves in a safe environment,” she said.
