Appearing as a guest on Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show Sherri, JoJo Siwa opened up about the best advice she ever received as a young star trying to transition into adulthood. Siwa revealed that Gwen Stefani offered her some words of wisdom when she was only 13 years old , and it has stuck with her ever since.
Gwen Stefani Advised JoJo Siwa to “Never Take Her Clothes Off”
The short clip of their conversation started when Shepherd asked Siwa if anyone had provided her memorable guidance on shifting from a child performer to an adult. Siwa then immediately recalled her interaction with Stefani.
“Gwen Stefani, when I was 13…she gave me the best advice ever,” Siwa said. “We were backstage and she nonchalantly was like, ‘Can I tell you something? Please. Never take your clothes off.'”
Siwa could barely contain her excitement at the time, eager to soak up whatever insight the music icon wanted to impart. The dancer also admitted her young 13-year-old self found it a little inappropriate at first. However, looking back now as an adult, she understands the wisdom behind Stefani’s words. She emphasized that it was “such good advice” to give to a young star, adding that she feels “very grateful” she took it to heart.
The former Dance Moms star explained that Stefani’s advice reinforced the importance of transitioning into womanhood and embracing one’s maturity in a “tasteful way.” Siwa believes that many young women become adults and immediately expose themselves without much thought. Thanks to Stefani’s counsel, Siwa aimed to reveal herself “tastefully” in her own time, not bending to public pressure.
JoJo Siwa Describes Her Experience on Special Forces as “Magnificent”
Siwa also discussed her challenging yet rewarding time competing on the Fox reality show Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. When asked about the grueling experience, Siwa summed it up in one word – “magnificent.”
Though Siwa acknowledged Special Forces as the “hardest thing she’s ever done,” she looks back on it fondly and “misses it like crazy.” She bonded tightly with her fellow recruits, considering them “family” after all they endured together. For Siwa, the show represented a thrilling chance to unveil her tenacious side on camera.
When Shepherd asked what Siwa learned about herself through this once-in-a-lifetime experience, she cited the importance of vulnerability and overcoming failure. Her Special Forces co-star Tyler Cameron helped her understand that failure serves a purpose – to push people beyond their limits. Siwa used to be harsh on herself for faltering during a challenge but now understands that stumbling is integral to the test, making perseverance paramount.
