Jenna Johnson Gets Candid About Parenting Differences with Val Chmerkovskiy

Dancing With The Stars pros Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy are also not safe from the struggles of dealing with cultural differences as parents. Johnson recently opened up about how she and her husband navigate parenting given their dissimilar beliefs.
Jenna Johnson Admits Having Parenting Style Differences with Val Chmerkovskiy
During a question and answer session via Instagram Stories, one follower asked Johnson if she and Chmerkovskiy have “different belief systems” and how they meet halfway. The DWTS pair are parents to now six-month-old baby Rome.
“Yes!!! Being completely transparent, at first, it was very hard to navigate because we grew up completely different and in very different cultures,” she wrote. “I think we had to face the fact that we needed to have open and honest communication constantly so neither of us was offended or hurt by the other if we didn’t see eye to eye on something.
Upon learning to work out their contrasting beliefs, these are now Johnson’s “favorite aspects” of their relationship. According to the DWTS pro, she’s happy that they get to experience a “cultured life” as a family.
Johnson then stated that Rome will have a “unique” upbringing, since he will grow up with “Russian-speaking grandparents in New York and Christian grandparents in Utah.” In turn, the professional dancer also gave advice to couples who have the same problem.
“My biggest advice to anyone in a similar position … don’t shy away from it! Face it head on and have the hard conversations!! They are worth it!!” she wrote.
Their Son Meets Daniella Karagach’s Baby Girl
In an Instagram post published on July 20, Johnson shared that Rome was able to meet Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov’s daughter, Nikita. The DWTS pro showed a series of snaps of their babies lying down on a rabbit blanket.
“Meeting Nikita. Future ballroom partners in the making,” Johnson wrote.
In the comments, followers and some DWTS cast members stated how cute Rome and Nikita’s meetup was.Â
“This is the cutest thing ever!!” Hayley Erbert wrote.
Nikki Garcia, Sasha Farber, and Peta Murgatroyd expressed the same sentiments. Meanwhile, one follower stated DWTS needs to build a nursery for the upcoming season.
“The baby rolls are the cutest!” another follower wrote. “How fun to have so many babies in the DWTS fam!”
Johnson is clearly enjoying the job of being a mother to Rome. On July 11, she uploaded a video of an amused Rome watching her and Chmerkovskiy dance live.
