Is ‘Alter Ego’ Introducing Group Performances for the Semifinals?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Alter Ego returns to FOX this Wednesday night for the first round of the Semifinals. The contestants who made it through the Head-to-Heads will compete for their chance to make it to the grand finale.
The show hasn’t revealed many details about the Semifinals round, but could the contestants be performing as a group during this week’s episode? Based on the first-look images, it’s possible.
‘Alter Ego’ Kicks Off Season 1 Semifinals
Eight contestants remain in the competition on Alter Ego after the Head-to-Head round. Four of these contestants will compete in Wednesday night’s episode, for a chance to move on to the Finals.
Presumably, two of these four contestants will be eliminated at the end of the night. In the Head-to-Heads, singers were paired off, with only one of them moving on from each matchup. We’re not sure exactly how the Semifinals performances will play out. A sneak peek video says the Alter Egos have to “upgrade their game,” so maybe we’ll see some new digital tricks.
An image promoting the new episode also shows the four avatars posing together with microphones in their hands. Could this mean we’ll see a group performance from them, or is it just a Photoshopped image to preview who’s performing this week?

Which Singers Are Performing in the First Semifinals Episode?
According to a sneak peek, this week’s new Semifinals episode will feature Misty Rose (aka Samaera Hirsch), Night Journey (aka Israa Darwich), Queen Dynamite (aka Dasharra Bridges), and Wolfgang Champagne (aka Matthew Lord).
So who’s most likely to move on to the Finals? To start with, Queen Dynamite has proven to be a favorite among both the judges and the audience with her powerhouse voice and confident stage presence. The judges even voted unanimously to send her to the Semifinals, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the finale.
Night Journey has been a favorite among the judges, particularly Grimes, who has praised her unique style. However, she was in the bottom two in her first episode, so we’re not sure how well she’ll fare with the audience. Depending on how much sway the judges have in the Semifinals, she could make it through.
Wolfgang Champagne is another hit with both the audience and judges, who love the weird contrast between his funny personality and operatic voice. Then there’s Misty Rose, who was in the bottom two for her audition, so she might be in more danger this round. We’ll find out soon who made it through.
I’m trying to audition for the next season due to my esophageal cancer issues and my age… I am an adequate singer despite my issues but I want to be an Avatar so that when I die , my kids, friends, and hopefully ancestors will have me around to at least sing with..! I’m ok with dying but the idea of immortality via digital technology is really awesome and I’m going to keep trying to figure out how to audition lol
