Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Release ‘Love Is Alive’ Cover
“Love Is Alive” is a song from the Judds’ 1984 debut album Why Not Me. The mother-daughter duo was made up of Wynonna and Naomi Judd. A Tribute to the Judds features more than two dozen artists covering the duo’s iconic songs. It’s due for release October 27.
Stefani takes the lead on vocals for the new cover, with Shelton backing her up. The fact that the two singers are a married couple brings emphasis to the lyrics, including, “Love is alive / And it’s made a happy woman out of me.”
“The Judds are one of the greatest country acts of our lifetime. 80’s country music is my favorite decade, and I’ve been singing Judd songs for as long as I can remember,” Shelton said in a statement. “‘Love Is Alive’ was on their first album, and we wanted to stick pretty close to the original version and Gwen just nails the vocal. We’re thrilled to be part of this tribute album.”
Stefani said she was “so thrilled to be part of this album,” adding that “performing the song with Blake is a perfect way to honor their timeless discography.”
