‘DWTS’ Alum Hayes Grier Arrested for Robbery and Assault

Dancing with the Stars alum and social media influencer Hayes Grier was arrested Friday in Charlotte, NC. The internet personality is facing charges including robbery and assault. Authorities say the 21-year-old severely beat William Markolf before stealing his $1,200 cellphone. Grier has since been released on a $17,500 bond.
William Markolf suffered brain damage after the alleged attack. According to TMZ, police say his injuries include “A broken left orbital bone (eyeball socket), brain damage, bruised ribs, bleeding from the back of the head, loss of hearing and more.”
Additionally, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office states that Grier had an arrest warrant out of Encino, California. He was detained on Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m. and faces a number of charges.
Per the warrants obtained by TMZ, a judge found probable cause to put Grier behind bars. While at this time the documents do not dive into the full narrative of what occurred, there is supposedly enough preliminary evidence to gather how bad the victim was hurt.
Who is Hayes Grier?
Grier amassed great popularity before appearing on season 21 of DWTS. In 2015, he became the youngest male contestant to compete on the show, walking away in eighth place. He started his internet career on the app Vine, gaining a huge fanbase in the process. He, along with his older brother, Nash Grier are very well known online. The internet sensation is also the brother of Carolina Panthers backup quarterback, Will Grier.
Grier was ordered to appear in court today at 9 a.m. He currently awaits further sentencing.
