Hough was up against fellow DWTS star Artem Chigvintsev in the category, as well as choreographers for shows such as Christmas in Rockefeller Center, World of Dance, and the Savage x Fenty Show. He won for two routines he choreographed last season.
The first routine was a paso doble to the song “Uccen,” which he performed with his girlfriend Hayley Erbert. The other routine was a lively solo performance he did to the song “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night” by FINNEAS.
Hough posted about his nominations on social media before the winners were announced on Sunday. “Whatever happens it’s such an honor to even have the opportunity to create and perform for you all,” he wrote. “I’ll keep on as long as you’ll have me.”
The dancer also reacted to the win on his Instagram stories, saying he was “speechless” and kissing Erbert in celebration. Gold Derby reports that Hough has earned more Emmy nominations than any other male choreographer, with 11.

Is Hough Returning as a Judge This Season on ‘DWTS’?
Last season, Hough joined the judging panel on Dancing with the Stars. He replaced Len Goodman, who wasn’t able to travel to the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hough previously appeared on the show as a pro dancer, winning six times.
For Season 30, Goodman will be back on the judging panel. However, that doesn’t mean we have to say goodbye to Hough. He’ll also be a judge this year, joining Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli. Tyra Banks is returning as host.
The show recently revealed the list of celebrities who will be competing this season. It includes JoJo Siwa, Matt James, Brian Austin Green, Mel C, and more. The new season premieres September 20 on ABC.
