Could Spain’s ‘Platinum Buzzer’ Make Its Way to ‘America’s Got Talent’?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
If you thought the Golden Buzzer gave America’s Got Talent contestants an amazing advantage, just wait until you hear about the Platinum Buzzer on Spain’s Got Talent. Could AGT end up adopting this tradition in a future season?
Spain’s Got Talent Judges Hit the Platinum Buzzer
Recently, a fan on the AGT subreddit posted about a recent audition on Spain’s Got Talent which earned the Platinum Buzzer. This is apparently an enhanced version of the famous Golden Buzzer, pressed by the judges and host together.
The Platinum Buzzer gives a chosen act an incredible advantage, sending them straight to the Finals. This season, the honor went to a group of young dancers. According to the fan on Reddit, this group hopes to perform in hospitals for children with cancer and other illnesses.
Spain’s Got Talent is currently in its 10th season. This milestone anniversary seems to be what inspired the new Platinum Buzzer — similar to how American Idol introduced the Platinum Ticket (an upgrade of the usual Golden Ticket) in Season 20.

Could AGT Adopt This Next Season?
The Reddit user who posted about Spain’s Platinum Buzzer suggested that AGT should adopt the same tradition for Season 20 of the show, which is expected to air next year. They asked other fans to share their thoughts on the suggestion.
Most of the fans who responded didn’t seem too thrilled about the idea of giving an act such a huge advantage. One user wrote that it would have to be “a very strong act” to deserve the honor, while someone else thought it “would be overkill.”
AGT has already expanded its Golden Buzzer tradition in recent seasons. This year, the judges each got to hit the Golden Buzzer for two acts in the auditions, and they also got to hit one Golden Buzzer each in the Quarterfinals.
