Candace Cameron Bure Creates “Hug Like Bob Saget” Merch Honoring Late Comedian

It’s been a week since Bob Saget passed away suddenly in his room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando. The comedian’s cause of death is still unknown, but foul play is not suspected. Since Saget’s death, TV-daughter Candace Cameron Bure created “Hug Like Bob Saget” merchandise to commemorate the late comedian.
Saget passed away on January 9 in his hotel room after a comedy show. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s office, Saget was found in bed by hotel security. His family contacted the hotel when they were unable to get a hold of him. Cause of death has not been confirmed, but the sheriff’s office has ruled out foul play, or drug use.
“His left arm was across his chest while his right arm was resting on the bed. No signs of trauma were seen,” said the incident report.
The medical examiner has stated it will take 10 to 12 weeks to determine cause of death and manner. Saget’s family is waiting for results of the autopsy report and are not speculating over the cause of his death.
“Hug Like Bob Saget” Proceeds Donated to the Scleroderma Research Foundation in Honor of the Late Comedian
Saget’s television daughter Candace Cameron Bure showed off a sweatshirt made in honor of the late celebrity recently. Originally, she made sweatshirts for herself and Saget’s family, but they are now on sale. Fashion stylist Erin Noël came up with the design of this sweatshirt and The Shop Forward will be mass producing them. 100% of the proceeds earned through sales will go to the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
Saget sat on the board for this foundation from 2003 until his death. Weeks before his death, Saget shared the story of how his sister, Gay Saget died from this autoimmune disease in 1994. Scleroderma is when your body produces excess collagen which causes tissue to lose its elasticity. Saget witnessed his sister fight this disease first hand.
On top of the sweatshirts honoring the late actor, the foundation itself is matching donations given in honor of the late comedian.
“We, along with Bob’s family, want to honor him and the legacy he wanted to leave behind, to recognize his singular and lifelong commitment to the Scleroderma Research Foundation, and to help us find a way to turn this horrible moment into something for the good,” they said in a press release. “Deann and I have pledged to match the first $1.5 million that is received in this tribute.”
Kelly Rizzo Mourns Late Husband
Days after Saget’s death, his wife Kelly Rizzo shared a heartfelt Instagram post in honor of her late husband. The 42 year old took a week to reflect and map out her thoughts before sharing her grief to the public.
“I’m trying, really trying, to not think I was robbed of time. But instead to think: How lucky was I that I got to be the one to be married to THE MOST INCREDIBLE MAN ON EARTH. I was the one who got to go on this crazy ride with him and be in his life these last 6 years,” Rizzo wrote.
Rizzo and Saget met in 2015 and wed in 2018. The couple celebrated their three year wedding anniversary last October. Saget’s touring partner comedian Mike Young stated that the late celebrity had a deep commitment to his wife.
“Most importantly. I have no regrets. We loved each other so damn much and told each other 500 times every day. Constantly. I know how much he loved me until the very last moment and he knew the same. I’m so grateful for that,” Rizzo wrote.
His late wife then shared how special of a person he was and thanked the public for their outpour of love and support. She noted that she is grateful for everyone providing her with love through this tough time.
