After months of teasing, American Idol has finally announced their premiere date for Season 21. The singing competition show is set to return to ABC on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
American Idol has officially confirmed their next season on ABC. Unlike Dancing With the Stars, the singing competition will remain on its cable network following their landmark season. The show returns to ABC on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
“Starting Feb. 19, American Idol’s about to hit the jackpot on new talent! Let’s go, Season 21!!” American Idol wrote in a post with ABC.
Along with the premiere date, the show confirmed season 21’s judges and host. Within the social media post, fans see returning judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, alongside longtime host Ryan Seacrest. The show’s time slot has yet to be revealed, but fans expect it to return to Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. According to the show’s post, fans will also be able to stream the show on Hulu.
This upcoming season of American Idol marks the show’s sixth season on ABC. The show originally began in 2002 on FOX and continued until 2016. The show then went on a brief hiatus before finding its new home on ABC in 2018. Along with the revival came the brand new judging panel of Richie, Perry, and Bryan. Seacrest has always been the frontman of the show.
The American Idol Cast Reunited in Las Vegas Earlier This Year
In late September, fans noticed that the American Idol judges met up in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although the nature of this reunion is unknown, many believed this was one of the places where the show filmed their top-secret auditions.
At the time, fans believe that this reunion was a portion of “judge cities” auditions. It was reported that they were set to film in New Orleans in early October. Even though a premiere date has officially been set, most singers have not shared that they’re auditioning for the show, yet.
At this time, two singer identities have been confirmed. Repeat contestant Haley Slaton revealed on Instagram that she made it through the online auditions. Another contestant, 16-year-old Elle Buzzard shared to their local paper the details how she became one of the select few to advance to the Las Vegas auditions.
I am glad theshow is staying on ABC, I refuse to pay for shows going to channels you have to pay for. I already pay enough for cable,
