Alyssa Scott and Nick Cannon recently suffered a tremendous loss when their 5-month-old son Zen passed away of a brain tumor. Cannon tearfully shared the news on his talk show this week, calling Scott “the strongest woman I’ve ever seen.”

On Wednesday, Scott shared a heartbreaking post on Instagram remembering Zen. The model wrote an emotional message to accompany a video montage of moments with her son and his older sister.

“Oh my sweet Zen. The soreness I felt in my arm from holding you is slowly fading away,” Scott wrote to her son. “It’s a painful reminder that you are no longer here.”

Scott went on to write that she catches herself looking for Zen in the rear-view mirror when she drives, and she still expects to hear him crying when she closes a door too loudly. She added, “The silence is deafening.”

“These last 5 months we have been in this race together. We would hand the baton off to each other,” Scott continued. “It feels unbearable running without you now. I can’t. And in this moment I feel myself being carried. By your sister.. By God. By complete strangers encouraging me to not give up.”

Scott ended her post by writing that it was “an honor and privilege being your mommy,” telling Zen, “I will love you for eternity.”

Scott Shares Clips of Zen to Remember Him

Scott’s Instagram message came with a video montage of Zen’s life, set to the song “Promises” by Jhené Aiko. The clip shows Zen sleeping while his sister reads a book, posing for photos, and visiting the hospital. Zen was battling Hydrocephalus, a form of brain cancer.

Zen was Nick Cannon’s seventh child. He was born June 23, just nine days after Cannon welcomed his twins Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa. He welcomed a daughter named Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell last December. They also have a son named Golden. Cannon also has twins Monroe and Moroccan with his ex-wife Mariah Carey.

Cannon shared that he chose to stay in California Sunday instead of flying to New York like he usually does. He spent the day with his son, holding him for the last time. Cannon said that Zen had “the most beautiful spirit.”
