Remember That Time BTS Endorsed ‘The Masked Singer’?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
You might have missed this when it was first posted, but The Masked Singer received a pretty big endorsement back when it first premiered in 2019. The K-pop group BTS showed their support for the show in a video message.
Miss Masky shared the clip as a throwback on Wednesday before the latest episode. Considering the show is based on a Korean format, getting a shoutout from the boy band is pretty special.
BTS Shouts Out ‘The Masked Singer’ Before Its Premiere
The group members introduced themselves in unison before RM talked about The Masked Singer‘s popularity in Korea. He said it’s “the hottest program,” adding, “I hope that many amazing singers are gonna be on this stage. It’s really fun to guess who is in the mask.”
RM also said, “We want to be there someday, too.” Can we expect a guest appearance from the group one of these days? Or maybe one of the members will even appear in one of the costumes? You may not know this, but Jungkook actually appeared on the Korean version of the show as a character called Fencing Man in 2016.
When The Masked Singer first posted the message from BTS back in January of 2019, it received over 45,000 retweets and more than 111,000 likes on Twitter. One user even said they were “intrigued” and would check out the show because BTS promoted it.
Nicole Scherzinger Wants Jimin to Appear on the Show
In 2020, the judges on the American version of The Masked Singer were asked which Korean celebrities they would want to see guest star on the show. There was one BTS member that Nicole Scherzinger said she’d love to see.
“If I could invite a Korean celebrity for The Masked Singer, it would have be Jimin from BTS,” she shared in a clip celebrating the Korean show’s sixth anniversary. “I wish I could say that in Korean.”
Jimin actually already appeared on the Korean version of the show as a panelist in 2017. We’d love to at least see BTS perform on the show at some point, maybe in a future duet with finalists.
