What Did Neil Patrick Harris Say About Teenage Nick Jonas?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Actor and television host Neil Patrick Harris is facing backlash from fans after comments made about teenage Nick Jonas resurfaced online. Harris once made inappropriate comments detailing a crush he had towards the singer who is in his teenage years.
Harris Sparked Controversy With His Comments
The How I Met Your Mother star and former America’s Got Talent guest judge is getting torn apart online for comments made back in 2014. It’s been reported that Harris was 42 years old while commenting about Jonas, who was 22 years old at the time.
The comments he made during the show were not taken seriously at the time, with the host Wendy Williams passing them off as light jokes. Taking part in the show’s “hot seat” segment, Harris was asked who his “celebrity crush” is.
After hesitating for a moment, Harris answered the question saying Nick Jonas, while raising his eyebrows. At the time, Jonas’s age was completely brushed over.
“He was really good-looking before it was kind of allowed to think he was good-looking,” Harris said. “Which was a bit of a problem, you kind of had to wait ’til he turned to be, y’know, 19, 20, you’re like ‘What is happening?'”
The clip of the interview has recently resurfaced, after being posted on TikTok. The clip sparked the anger of the viewers, who commented about the actor’s inappropriate words. One fan commented that Harris has always been problematic while others outright called him disgusting.
Fans Mention Harris’s Amy Winehouse Corpse Cake
The recent hate that Harris is receiving brought up another one of his past events. The controversial event happened over ten years ago at a Halloween party four months after Amy Winehouse‘s unfortunate passing.
The practical joke turned out to become an insensitive act is what happened with Harris’ corpse cake of the singer. The British singer tragically died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011, at just 27 years old. Following her death Harris served a cake, modeled after her in a gruesome state at a Halloween party.
A guest posted a photo of the platter on Twitter, which featured a disturbing depiction of Winehouse’s body. The rotting and bloodied corpse features the singer’s beehive hairdo and recognizable tattoos.
Said post was later removed and like The Wendy Williams Show interview, would be dismissed at the time. Earlier this year, a Twitter user brought up the subject, ahead of Harris’s comments on Jonas resurfacing. Harris immediately issued an apology, stating that the dish was regrettable then and remains regrettable now.
