Dancing With The Stars has seen many incredible dance pros grace the stage since its premiere in 2005. While 19 pros have taken home mirrorball trophies over the years, a select few have emerged as the best of the best. Here are the top eight DWTS pros of all time, ranked by their number of wins.

8. Maksim Chmerkovskiy – One Mirrorball Win

The first Chmerkovskiy brother to join DWTS, Maksim, took home a mirrorball in 2014 with Meryl Davis. Now married to Peta Murgatroyd, Chmerkovskiy is co-owner of Dance With Me dance studios across the country.

7. Kym Johnson – Two Mirrorball Wins

Kym Johnson won her first mirrorball in 2009 with partner Donny Osmond, then took home the trophy again in 2011 with Hines Ward. After marrying Shark Tank‘s Robert Herjavec, whom she met on the show, Johnson welcomed twins in 2018 and last appeared on DWTS in 2025.

6. Peta Murgatroyd – Two Mirrorball Wins

Peta Murgatroyd joined DWTS in Season 13 and has competed in 17 seasons. She captured her first mirrorball win in Season 14 with football player Donald Driver. Her second win came in Season 22 with deaf model Nyle DiMarco. Murgatroyd tied the knot with Maks Chmerkovskiy in 2017. They have three children together.


5. Julianne Hough – Two Mirrorball Wins

Julianne Hough impressively won Seasons 4 and 5 as the show’s youngest pro champion. She later served as a judge for 5 seasons and returned as a co-host for Season 32, making her one of the biggest stars in DWTS history.

4. Cheryl Burke – Two Mirrorball Wins

Cheryl Burke made DWTS history as the show’s first female pro champion, winning Seasons 2 and 3. She competed for a record 25 seasons before retiring in 2022 as an iconic pro known for her technique and competitiveness.

3. Valentin Chmerkovskiy – Three Mirrorball Wins

Though his brother Maks was an early standout, Valentin Chmerkovskiy now has three DWTS titles under his belt. His perfect combination of modern style and classic technique led to wins with Rumer Willis, Laurie Hernandez, and most recently, his Season 32 victory with Xochitl Gomez.


2. Mark Ballas – Three Mirrorball Wins

Mark Ballas competed on DWTS for 20 seasons between Season 5, Season 31, and Season 34. He won his first mirrorball with Kristi Yamaguchi in Season 6 in a partnership that blended athleticism and artistry. His second victory came in Season 8 with Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. Most recently, Ballas capped his DWTS career by winning Season 31 with social media star Charli D’Amelio. He recently competed with Whitney Leavitt on Season 34.

1. Derek Hough – Six Mirrorball Wins

The best pro in DWTS history, Derek Hough has amassed 6 Mirrorball wins over 17 seasons. After taking a hiatus as a pro, he rejoined the show as a judge in 2020 including the following seasons. Hough married fellow dancer Hayley Erbert in 2023.
