‘The Voice’ Recap: Battles Come to an End as Blake Shelton Uses His Save
Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Voice Season 22 returned on Tuesday night to finish up the Battles, as coach Blake Shelton finally used his save on married couple The Dryes. This episode also opened with a unique Battle to a song from Frozen 2 on Team Legend.
Team Legend Stuns with ‘Frozen 2’ Battle on ‘The Voice’
Tuesday’s episode started with a Battle between Lana Love and Omar Jose Cardona on Team Legend. The coach assigned them “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2. It might have seemed like an unconventional song choice, but it worked perfectly with the singers’ styles.
Lana and Omar put their all into the performance, bringing drama and hitting some amazing high notes. The coaches were stunned, with Camila Cabello saying it was in her “top two favorite moments of this season.” Gwen Stefani said she felt like she “was shot up in a rocket and then went around the moon.”
John Legend told Lana that she should be on Broadway, and he told Omar that he’s never heard anyone sing like him. He said it was “phenomenal to watch.” Unfortunately, he could only keep one of them on his team, and he went with Omar, saying he could win the show. Because Legend didn’t have a save left, and the steals were used up, Lana was eliminated.

Blake Shelton Uses His Save on The Dryes
Shelton has been waiting to use his save through the entire Battles round this season, and he finally pulled it out for the matchup between Bryce Leatherwood and The Dryes. He assigned them “Red Dirt Road” by Brooks & Dunn.
They all gave great performances, but Shelton chose Bryce as the winner, calling him “unshakeable” and joking about how his name is perfect for country. But The Dryes didn’t have to worry, because Shelton hit his button to keep them on his team.
The married couple is one of two duos who made it through the Blind Auditions, along with sister duo The Marilynds. They were also a save on John Legend’s team after going up against 17-year-old four-chair turn Parijita Bastola in the Battles.
Also during this episode, four-chair turn Andrew Igbokidi overcame uncertainty to keep his spot on Camila Cabello’s team after battling Zach Newbould. Cabello said there’s no one else like Andrew on the show. Stefani said she would have stolen Zach if she could.
Next week marks the start of something new on the show. This season will feature three-way Knockouts. We can’t wait to see how that plays out when The Voice Season 22 returns next Monday night at 8/7c on NBC.
