The Voice has announced the celebrity Battle Advisors who will join each of the four coaches during Season 22 of the show, which premieres in September. The show also revealed a new twist in this season’s Knockouts round.
The Voice Announces Battle Advisors for Season 22
On Tuesday, The Voice Instagram account posted videos of the four coaches sharing clues about their Season 22 Battle Advisors for fans to guess their identities. Then on Wednesday, NBC released a press release announcing the celebrity guests for this season.
During the upcoming Battles round, John Legend will be joined by Jazmine Sullivan, Camila Cabello will have the help of Charlie Puth, Blake Shelton will team up with Jimmie Allen, and Gwen Stefani will mentor her team with Sean Paul.
New coach Camila Cabello was previously a Battle Advisor on John Legend’s team in Season 21, and now she’s sitting in one of the spinning red chairs. Could any of these newly announced Battle Advisors be future coaches? Only time will tell.

This Season Will Feature Three-Way Knockouts
NBC also announced that this season will introduce a first-time twist for the Knockouts round. Season 22 will feature three-way Knockouts. The round will also be doing away with the traditional Mega Mentor, as coaches will work with their artists by themselves.
Past Mega Mentors have been some pretty big names in music, including Taylor Swift, Snoop Dogg, and Ed Sheeran. So doing away with the position for this season will certainly remove some of the star power from the competition.
This isn’t the first time The Voice has played around with the format in recent years. For example, in Season 16, the show replaced the Knockouts with something called Cross Battles, in which singers from different teams were paired up. The show did away with this in the next season.
The Voice Season 22 will premiere on NBC on Monday, September 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
