‘The Voice’ Recap: Artists Sing Coaches’ Songs as Blind Auditions Continue
Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Voice Season 22 returned on Tuesday night for another round of Blind Auditions. The episode picked up from Monday night’s cliffhanger, as Kate Kalvach chose to join Blake Shelton’s team. Tonight’s show also featured several performances of the coaches’ songs.
Artists Sing Coaches’ Songs on ‘The Voice’
During Tuesday’s show, 22-year-old Bryce Leatherwood took the stage to sing “Goodbye Time,” which was originally sung by Conway Twitty. However, Bryce chose to sing Shelton’s version of the song. The choice paid off, as Shelton was the first one to turn, along with Gwen Stefani and John Legend. As you might expect, Bryce chose to join Team Blake.
Later in the show, 19-year-old Alyssa Witrado performed “Don’t Speak” by Stefani’s band No Doubt. Surprisingly, Camila Cabello was the first to turn around, with Stefani following soon after. She said she liked Alyssa’s energy. Unsurprisingly, Alyssa chose to join Team Gwen.
At the end of the episode, we got to hear two impromptu covers of the coaches’ songs. After Peyton Aldridge turned three chairs with “Can’t You See” by Marshall Tucker, he broke into a rendition of Legend’s “All of Me,” inspiring the coach to join in. He even sang a little bit of “Hollaback Girl” at Stefani’s request. Legend got Peyton on his team after blocking Shelton.

Some Artists Make Surprising Coach Choices
Although some artists made some pretty predictable choices for whose teams they wanted to join, others went the unexpected route. That includes Kevin Hawkins, who turned four chairs with his cover of “Isn’t She Lovely.” Stefani blocked Legend from getting him.
The Voice coaches gave Kevin their pitches for why he should join their team. Stefani even told him his audition sounded like a performance at the Grammys. Surprisingly, Kevin chose to join Team Blake. Cabello couldn’t believe it, telling Shelton, “I hate that you might have the winner.”
Later in the show, we went from a non-country artist choosing the country coach to the other way around. Sadie Bass overcame stage fright to sing “Stupid Boy” by Keith Urban. Both Shelton and Stefani turned their chairs. Although Sadie admitted that she initially thought she would choose Shelton, Stefani convinced her to join her team instead.
The teams are starting to come together now as we see more and more Blind Auditions. The Voice Season 22 continues next Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
