Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Ryan Seacrest return to your television for the 20th season of American Idol very soon. The series returns to ABC on February 27 at 8 p.m. it will also be streamed on Hulu. Bobby Bones will not return to American Idol this season due to scheduling conflicts.

American Idol Teases New Series Twist
To commemorate the show’s 20th year on air, the network has put a spin on the known and loved formatting of the show. When the three judges decide singers receive more than just three yeses, they’ll typically give out Golden Tickets. These Golden Tickets bring the singers right to Hollywood Week in the competition. In the most recent teaser video for the upcoming season, Perry shares the newest, Platinum, Ticket. The Platinum Ticket sends a contestant to Hollywood with “a little shortcut.”
Although nothing else has been revealed about this ticket, the video hints at who the recipient will be. A singer performs Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.” From the video it’s obvious that he left the judges speechless. The judges can be seen with goosebumps on their arms!
One Platinum Ticket is available in each city, in addition to the typical Golden Tickets, so it should be interesting to see what this new ticket really is. I can’t wait to see the newest addition to the long running series!
