Taylor Swift has been performing her Eras Tour in cities around the United States since March. The tour has been immensely popular, with fans scrambling to get tickets to their preferred shows. The tour is also reportedly boosting the economy — particularly the hotel industry.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Is Boosting the Hotel Industry
According to Billboard, the Philadelphia Federal Reserve has said that Swift’s tour is boosting revenues for the hotel industry for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Officials highlighted increased hotel bookings in the bank’s Beige Book.
“Despite the slowing recovery in tourism in the region overall, one contact highlighted that May was the strongest month for hotel revenue in Philadelphia since the onset of the pandemic, in large part due to an influx of guests for the Taylor Swift concerts in the city,” officials wrote of the tour’s effect on business.
Swift has also reportedly had a positive effect on business in other cities. NBC News reports that downtown Cincinnati hotels grossed more than $2.6 million thanks to the singer’s tour. The first weekend in June also reportedly broke hotel occupancy records in Chicago thanks in part to Swift’s shows.
“Taylor Swift is a force to be reckoned with,” said Julie Calvert, president and CEO of Visit Cincy. “The economic impact Swift creates is staggering, as fans travel from far and wide to attend her concerts, filling hotels, restaurants, and local attractions. Swift’s influence on tourism is a testament to her ability to captivate audiences and drive economic growth.”
