The iconic premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 made history for Paramount +. This series became the streaming network’s most watched original unscripted due to the premiere’s high viewership.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 Becomes Paramount +’s Most Watched Original Reality Series
On June 3, Paramount + announced that RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 became the most-watched original reality series during its first week on the streaming service. The premiere brought in nearly 60% more viewers than season six. The RuPaul’s Drag Race spin off series debuted on the Logo network in 2012, then made the jumped to VH1 in 2017. Since 2021, this series has been exclusively streamed on Paramount +.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 premiered on May 20, 2022 and has since exceeded fan expectations. The highly anticipated season features eight queens attempting to reclaim their throne. These queens include Jaida Essence Hall, Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, Shea Couleé, The Vivienne, Trinity The Tuck, and Yvie Oddly. Since each queen has already claimed their title as next drag superstar, this is the most epic season yet.
Queens have officially taken the stage for a chance to win a grand prize of $200,000, a one-year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics, and the title of “Queen of All Queens.” Since this competition features previous winners, there are no eliminations. Instead, each contestant is fighting for Legendary Legend Stars, which ultimately decide the winner.
Since queens are fighting for stars, the show’s formatting has changed to incorporate the addition. This season differs from most because the top two contestants must perform a lip sync battle at the end of the episode, not the bottom two queens. The queens taking part in the lip sync battle will each gain a star, while the overall winner also receives a cash prize and the option to block a competitor. At this time, Yvie Oddly and Raja are the remaining queens without a star.
The fifth episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 goes live on Paramount + on Friday, June 10. Queens are set to give their commencement speeches at their Drag U graduation in the upcoming episode.
