RuPaul Announces the Upcoming Release of His Memoir

RuPaul has announced that his new memoir, titled The House of Hidden Meanings, will be released next year. The Drag Race host revealed the book’s cover with fans and shared how he feels about sharing his story with the world.

The book’s cover features a black and white photo of RuPaul wearing a turtleneck and a hat, and sporting a goatee. The star posted a video to Instagram sharing the news. He appeared nervous and emotional as he shared that the book was two and a half years in the making.
“I’m so excited and so anxious at the same time, because I reveal so much of myself,” RuPaul shared. “You know, this world today feels so hostile. It’s such a scary place to be vulnerable in, but I did it. So get ready.”
In the post’s caption, he shared that writing the book “left me gooped, gagged and stripped raw.” He shared that the book will be available in March 2024, and fans can pre-order their copies now. The star provided links to both the U.S. version and the international versions.
“When all is said and done, it’s just me, Ru,” the star wrote in his post, prompting Drag Race judge Michelle Visage to comment, “Just you is all we’ve ever needed.”

The Book Won’t Focus on Drag Race
According to Vogue, RuPaul’s new book will focus on the first 40 years of his life, and therefore will not explore the success of his show RuPaul’s Drag Race. The outlet praised his “sparse, elegant prose (with the occasional dash of his signature sparkling wit).”
“The book is called The House of Hidden Meanings because underneath every story is another story that really tells you what’s going on, and I wanted it to look back on the past and uncover the hidden meaning behind each event,” RuPaul shared of the book’s title.
