Meet Alanis Sophia, The Incredible ‘La Voz Kids’ Star Competing On ‘American Idol’

Are you excited for the season premiere of American Idol? Well, you should be because 19-year-old artist Alanis Sophia Gonzalez Sanchez, better known as Alanis Sophia, is ready to slay the competition. She previously competed on La Voz Kids when she was 11 years old. Now she is ready to show everyone that she has what it takes to be the next American Idol.
‘La Voz Kids’ Finalist Alanis Sophia Is Auditioning For ‘American Idol’
During her time on La Voz Kids, Alanis struck up an incredible relationship with her coach Paulina Rubio. This was her first experience performing live and working with a big artist. The Puerto Rican singer was one of the runners-up on the show after her amazing performances left the audience speechless. This allowed her to grow a huge global fan base after many were impressed with her vocal talents on the show.
Alanis became the face of Visit Florida and recorded jingles and did photoshoots for the company. This led up to her going to record her first EP at the age of 13 featuring popular song covers and an original song in both English and Spanish. Between 2015 and 2016, Alanis focused more on her acting career. In a YouTube video, she described hearing a lot of rejections after auditioning for acting roles. Finally, she landed a pilot for a character called “Rosa” but never got the call about the show getting picked up by a network. Alanis later became the face of Clean & Clear.
Alanis Was Signed To A Major Record Label
She also began posting videos on YouTube including song covers and vlogs. In August of 2017, her cover of Selena’s “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” captured Scott Borchetta’s attention, the CEO of Big Machine Label Group.

After meeting with executives, they expressed their desire of signing a Latina to a country label. Alanis flew out to Nashville to record demos. She officially signed with the label in 2018.
They realized she had tremendous songwriting abilities and paired her with other songwriters where she wrote and recorded over 100 songs. In the end, Alanis parted ways with the label after trying to fuse country and Latin music in a way that would not harm her future career.
Alanis Is A Social Media Star Ready For Her Big Break On ‘American Idol’
After proving that she can sing, dance, act, model and much more, Alanis has established quite a large presence on social media. While she has continued to upload original music, she has also worked with clothing brands and even ventured to the world of TikTok. She has over 143,000 likes on TikTok with her fun singing and dancing videos.
