Ryan Seacrest on the 'American Idol' 2025 Grand Finale

Ryan Seacrest has finally been officially confirmed as the host of American Idol Season 24. His involvement in next year’s competition seemed uncertain after he wasn’t included in the show’s announcement that all three judges would be returning.

Ryan Seacrest Returning as American Idol Host

Last month, it was confirmed that Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan would all be back as judges on American Idol Season 24. Noticeably absent from the announcement was Ryan Seacrest, who has hosted the singing competition since the first season in 2002.

That left us wondering if Seacrest could be planning to leave the show. At the time, sources told Deadline that Seacrest had not yet closed a deal for the new season, but that he was expected to be back. Now it’s official — Seacrest will be back to host Season 24.

The official American Idol Instagram account shared the news on Wednesday, posting a photo of the host and writing in the caption, “Seacrest…IN! Join us in welcoming @ryanseacrest back to host a new season of @americanidol!”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s typical for the show’s judges and host to sign new deals before each season of the show begins production. Virtual auditions are currently taking place for hopeful singers around the country.

Will Jelly Roll Be Back Next Season?

Another name which was not included in the initial judge announcement for American Idol Season 24 was Jelly Roll, who served as the Artist in Residence last season. As of this writing, Jelly Roll has not been confirmed to return.

It seems like the singer would be up for doing more seasons of the show, as he has actually said that he hopes to have a “permanent” spot as the Artist in Residence. It’s possible his involvement won’t be announced until closer to the premiere.
