Adam Lambert Has Shared His Support for Lil Nas X
Nas, who is openly gay, got people talking when he kissed a male dancer at the 2021 BET Awards. Lambert had a similar moment in 2009 when he kissed his male keyboard player at the American Music Awards.
“I thought it was hot,” Lambert told Billboard of Nas’s performance. “He’s really giving it to us. I think he is definitely like the gay pop star that is 2021 — he’s bold, he’s controversial, he’s pushing boundaries. That’s what we want our pop stars to do. It’s just taken this long to have it be a gay one.”
Not long after placing second to Kris Allen on Season 8 of American Idol, Lambert came out as gay. The singer told Billboard that after his AMAs kiss, he was “pulled off of ABC for a little while.” He mentioned how much things have changed since then, saying “we’ve moved past the shock and the alien nature of seeing gay representation in action.”
“He’s so grounded and firm in who he is and what he’s about, he won’t apologize to anybody,” Lambert said of Nas. “What I love right now with Lil Nas is we need him to be outspoken about it. He is in a position where that works for him, and he’s using it.”

Nas Thanks Lambert for Opening Doors
“I know Adam, we’ve met a couple of times,” Nas recently told Heavy. “I did thank him in person, actually. I really appreciate all the love that he’s shown me and I definitely don’t take it for granted. And I appreciate all the doors that him and people like him opened.”
The “Old Town Road” star recently teamed up with M&Ms to create a collectible box, with $5 from every purchase being donated to the nonprofit organization Sing For Hope, which is placing pianos inspired by celebrities in public spaces. A rainbow piano inspired by Nas has been displayed at Radio City Music Hall and Times Square, and it will be donated to Newark Pride Inc.
Nas aims to support other artists like Lambert supported him, sharing, “My honest advice is to really learn how to be okay with messing up and failing a lot of the time to evolve. It’s gonna be hard, but it’s going to help you a lot.”
In November, Nas will embark on several European tour dates as part of his Long Live Montero Tour. Meanwile, Lambert is about to start a three-night engagement called The Witch Hunt at Wynn Las Vegas.
