Kim Kardashian is sharing how she really feels about hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was featured in a new promo ahead of the episode. Musical guest Halsey and cast member Cecily Strong joined Kardashian in the video as she prepares for her big hosting debut.
Kim Kardashian Cracks Jokes in Promos Ahead of ‘SNL’ Debut
In the promo, Strong asks Kardashian and Halsey if they should all start their own girl group. It was a firm “absolutely not” from Halsey. Kardashian added, “We already said ‘no’ when you pitched that backstage.” Kardashian did get a lot of flack online after it was announced that she would be hosting. Even actress Debra Messing was confused about why Kardashian was chosen to host SNL.
Despite all of the criticism, this promo is, dare I say, kind of funny. Strong went on to ask Kardashian if she is nervous about doing sketch comedy. Kardashian asked if she would actually have to write sketches and memorize lines. Halsey pointed out that there are cue cards.
“Everyone else won’t look as good as me, will they?” Kardashian asked. Strong replied, “No, absolutely not.” Kardashian went on to say that hosting SNL is “so easy.”
The Season 47 premiere only pulled in 4.9 million total viewers compared to last season’s 8.2 million viewers. Whether it’s the haters tuning in to see how Kardashian does, or her 257 million Instagram followers, her appearance on the program could potentially boost the ratings.
A source told People that Kardashian is actually “both nervous and thrilled” to be hosting SNL. She is taking the job “very seriously.” Another source claims that Kardashian has been getting advice from her ex Kanye West. West has performed on SNL seven times throughout his career. Kardashian filed for divorce in February but recently appeared at the rappers Donda album event.
“He’s giving her advice,” the source said. “She feels a lot of pressure. She wants to wow the audience.”
You can catch Kardashian’s SNLÂ hosting debut on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.Â
