Kelly Clarkson Throws Shade At Her Ex-Husband’s Family For Filing A Lawsuit Against Her
Kelly Clarkson is not backing down after her soon-to-be ex-husbands family filed a suit against her. The talk show host is being sued by Starstruck Management Group for unpaid commissions. The company is owned by ex Brandon Blackstock’s family and has been managing Kelly for 13 years.
Kelly Clarkson Shades Brandon Blackstock And Lawsuit In Tweet
Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock runs the management company. He just filed the claim alleging that Kelly owes them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions. These commissions are reportedly from Kelly’s earning as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice. Kelly threw some shade at this lawsuit on Twitter. She tweeted a gif of Morpheus from The Matrix making a “come here” motion. This tweet is seemingly telling the Blackstock family to “bring it on.” It seems like Kelly is not going down without a fight.
Kelly reportedly previously paid Starstruck Management Group a 15% commission but is accused of owing $5.4 million by the end of the year. There is no written agreement since this was all verbally done by Kelly’s lawyer in 2007 during a phone call. This turns the situation into more of a “he said, she said.”
Yahoo attained the complaint from Starstruck Management Group which states “Over the course of approximately 13 years, Starstruck developed Clarkson into a mega superstar.” It continues on to say “By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like ‘The Voice’ and her own talk show. Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed.”
Kelly’s Fans Are Sticking By Her As The Divorce Gets Messy
Kelly’s fans think this lawsuit is a bit ill-timed since she and Brandon are currently involved in divorce proceedings. The pair were married for nearly seven years before calling it quits in June. They have two children together.
“Its so predictable that the first thing they will use against you is the “WE MADE YOU” shenanigans” wrote one Twitter user. “No honey, Kelly made herself. She definitely had help along the way, but it’s her voice, her words, her music and hard work that made herself who she is, not a lawyer.”
“Ahh hell nah!! Don’t you dare mess with my @kellyclarkson !! One of the most real, loyal sincere and amazing people in the business.. fan since the 1st notes of at last so don’t u make me go crazy on someone 🙂 lol” wrote another.
“Toxic people, do toxic sh*t, Kelly” said another. “I am so sorry for what you are going through. Narcissistic people lack the empathy or moral compass to understand the implications of their self-serving actions, nor do they care. You deserve WAY better!”
In the words of Kelly, “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.”
