Gwen Stefani Shares Divorce Advice With Kelly Clarkson Ahead Of ‘The Voice’
Kelly Clarkson continues to speak candidly about her divorce, this time with a little support from her friend Gwen Stefani. The pair are gearing up for the season 19 premiere of The Voice and have really been connecting about their similar divorce experiences. Take a look at their interview with Extra TV below.
Kelly Clarkson And Gwen Stefani Have Bonded Over Divorce Experiences
Kelly reiterated what she said about her divorce during the season two premiere of The Kelly Clarkson Show. She acknowledged that “there’s other little hearts involved.” Kelly shares two children with Brandon Blackstock, six-year-old River Rose and four-year-old Remington Alexander. The pair continue to co-parent as the divorce proceedings continue.
Gwen was previously married to Gavin Rossdale for nearly 13 years before the pair divorced. She and Kelly have used music as a way to cope. “Kelly and I have been talking about this a lot,” Gwen said. “We’re so lucky to have music as an outlet for everything we all go through … Music is such therapy when you’re a writer.”

Gwen began her relationship with fellow ‘Voice’ coach Blake Shelton in 2015 after they met on the show. The pair also bonded over their divorce experiences after Blake was previously married to country star Miranda Lambert for four years. Check out the What’s Hot Video below for a full timeline of their relationship from the beginning all the way up until now where engagement rumors seem to be swirling every day.
“It’s a very hard thing to navigate,” Kelly said about the divorce. “To be able to be honest and share your story, so maybe you can help someone else, but at the same time protecting these little kids you adore … and they’re the most important thing to you,” she said. “We have a lot of help as far as therapists or child psychologists cause we want to do it right I definitely want to do it right… Everyone’s sad and it’s okay to be sad.”
“You’re doing a really good job,” Gwen told Kelly. “I think it’s hard to be a public person. Now you add in a family … they didn’t choose it.”
The Pair Also Discussed Their Strategies Coming Into Season 19
It turns out that both Kelly and Gwen have similar strategies this year coming into season 19 of The Voice. “I think the strategy for me every season is just to beat Blake,” Kelly said.
Gwen was right there with her and is eyeing her first win on The Voice over Blake. “I haven’t won yet and I think with Blake he’s spoiled and he just sort of like takes it for granted plus he’s been on for 19 seasons,” she said. “But I just feel like he needs to be destroyed. He needs like a little reality check and I would be happy to do that for him.”
