Keith Urban Says No Old Judges Will Return To ‘American Idol’ Reboot
Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic Speculation is running high on who will be joining Katy Perry on the American Idol judge’s table when the show reboots next year. Though many names have been bandied about, one thing is for sure according to Keith Urban: none of the old judges are returning.

It would be easy for the producers of the American Idol reboot to rehash old territory by bringing back one of the former judges from back in the day. A Harry Connick, Jr. or Jennifer Lopez maybe. But according to former judge Keith Urban, the producers of the show want to go in a whole new direction. He said,
“I think it’s going to be all new people except for Ryan.”
Of course, another issue is the fact that they blew most of their talent budget on Katy Perry and Ryan Seacrest. They will either have to make a Disney side deal with the new judges or pay them in craft service half bagels and bags of Doritos. Still, I do respect that the producers want to do something new and original. It would be lazy and lame to just do the same old thing.
