Katy Perry recently took to TikTok to respond to comments comparing her American Idol judging style to Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model. In fact, she just so happened to have Banks in the video with her.
Katy Perry Responds to American Idol Judging Criticism
Earlier this month, a video went viral showing Perry breaking good news to contestants on American Idol by making them think they had been eliminated. One TikTok user commented that Perry “went to the Tyra Banks school of psychological warfare.”
Perry ended up posting a response to this comment on her own TikTok account, saying, “I just want to introduce my American Idol mentor, someone that’s taught me everything I know about how to serve, how to give a critique.”
She then introduced none other than Tyra Banks, who moved into frame with Perry. As Banks said, “I wore red lipstick for you. I don’t wear red lipstick. But I know that Katy’s all about color and pop.”
The pair then demonstrated Banks’ famous modeling technique called the smize. As Perry wrote in the video’s caption, “smize for your mothers.”

Banks Praised Perry’s Las Vegas Show
Perry and Banks apparently made the TikTok video when Banks recently attended Perry’s Las Vegas show PLAY at Resorts World Theatre. Banks ended up commenting on an Instagram version of the video praising the singer’s performance.
“Your show was unreal! A fantasy. Creative genius. Kisses and yellow hearts to you and your super talented crew,” Banks wrote in the comments, along with a few kissing emojis and yellow hearts.
Banks isn’t the only famous face to appear at Perry’s Las Vegas show recently. Earlier this month, Kim Kardashian attended the show with her daughter North West. Perry invited North and her friends to dance on stage with her.
