Former American Idol judge Katy Perry had a scary moment during her recent concert in Adelaide, Australia. The singer was preparing to perform inside a large hanging sphere when an apparent malfunction almost caused her to fall.
Katy Perry Almost Falls from Sphere During Concert
On her current Lifetimes tour, Perry spends part of the concert performing from inside a large spherical cage suspended from the ceiling. In a fan video from Sunday’s Adelaide concert, Perry can be seen standing inside the sphere, holding on from above.
The lights go down and music starts, at which point the sphere tilts. Perry appears to lose her balance for a moment, but she manages to hold on as crew members arrive to help straighten the sphere. The crowd can be heard cheering for her in the background of the clip.
Perry isn’t the only touring artist to experience a midair malfunction recently. During Beyoncé’s recent Cowboy Carter show in Houston, the flying car she rides in tilted during her performance of “16 Carriages,” and she had to be lowered down.

Perry Got Emotional During a Recent Show
According to People, Perry got emotional one day after her sphere malfunction, as she thanked fans at the end of her final show in Australia. In a clip shared by fans, Perry can be seen holding her hands in the shape of a heart over her head, with tears in her eyes.
“Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world,” Perry then said into the microphone, still looking teary-eyed. “Now let’s sing ‘Firework’!”
It was recently reported that Perry and her longtime partner Orlando Bloom had split up. The couple, who was together for nine years and engaged for six, shares a 4-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom.
A source told People that the singer “never saw herself as a single mom,” adding, “She’s felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It’s been a lot for her. She’s still doing great, though.”
