Jessie J Suffers Miscarriage: “It’s the Loneliest Feeling in the World”
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Singer Jessie J announced to fans today in a heartfelt and emotional Instagram post that she unfortunately suffered a miscarriage. She said that she began the day laughing with friends over the secret, and by afternoon, the baby no longer had a heartbeat.
“I want to be honest and true and not hide what I’m feeling,” she wrote. “I deserve that. I want to be as myself as I can be in this moment. Not just for the audience but for myself and my little baby that did it’s best.”
The star, who has judged on multiple versions of The Voice, shared that she decided to have a baby on her own because she has always wanted a child.
“I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is short. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again,” she wrote, indicating that she will try again to get pregnant.
Jessie also shared that she knows millions of women around the world have suffered her same loss and “way worse.” She shared that she now feels “connected” to those who have also miscarried despite the lonely feeling she now endures.
Jessie J Will Perform Tonight Despite Miscarriage
The singer is set to perform tonight in Los Angeles. Night one of her An Acoustic Evening with Jessie J at the The Hotel Café in L.A. is sold out and set to begin at 9 p.m. In her post, she wrote:
“I have done 2 shows in 2 years and my soul needs it. Even more today. I know some people will be thinking she should just cancel it. But in this moment I have clarity on one thing. I started singing when I was young for joy, to fill my soul and self love therapy, that hasn’t ever changed and I have to process this my way.”
She continued that she may make less jokes than usual, but that her heart will be in the room.
Earlier this year, Jessie also shared with fans that she has been dealing with a throat condition that prevents her from singing. Then too, she was honest about how the condition made her feel. She shared an Instagram video in which she tears up while singing quietly for her speech therapist.
We wish all the best for Jessie during this difficult time, and offer our deepest sympathies.
