Catie Turner Releases New Song ‘God Must Hate Me’
“Do you ever see someone and think, ‘Wow, God must hate me’?” Turner sings to start the brutally honest new song. “‘Cause he spent so much time on them, and for me he got lazy.” Later, she sings that she “can’t hold myself responsible, so I’ll blame the metaphysical.”
Turner teased the song on TikTok earlier this month, writing, “The never ending fear of what if I’m not pretty enough to make it in music.” According to Broadway World, Turner called this “the most vulnerable song” she’s ever released. It definitely shows in her vocals.
Turner added that the track is “about those times where the feelings are so omnipotent, you really start to believe it. That you were made wrong. That you’re not good enough. And, that maybe, a higher power being angry with you is a pill easier to swallow than personal responsibility.”
