Dancing with the Stars pro Emma Slater has unfortunately injured her ankle. Slater, who was eliminated last week with her partner Reginald VelJohnson, sustained the injury while rehearsing a dance for next week’s show.
Emma Slater Injures Ankle in DWTS Rehearsal
Slater may no longer be competing on Season 33, but eliminated pros usually stick around to participate in group dances for the remainder of the season. In this case, Slater said on her Instagram stories Monday that she was participating in a rehearsal when she hurt her ankle.
“I just came out of, like, a lift trick,” Slater explained. “I thought it was OK, but I obviously didn’t come out great, because my foot hit the floor and then just did that whole roll-over thing. And they actually caught it on camera, because … we were actually filming it for social media. And apparently this video is gnarly.”
Slater also shared a photo of herself in the hospital, on the phone with her parents to let them know she was OK. Her fellow pro Britt Stewart, who was also eliminated last week with her partner Eric Roberts, accompanied her and posed for a selfie.
“All is good, will be back soon,” Slater wrote in the caption. “Thought I was gunna be cutting a rug with my fellow #eliminated pros but sadly I got #eliminated from that crew too so I think I’ll go join @thereginaldveljohnson and just sit on the couch for a bit.”

It’s Not the First Injury This Season
Slater isn’t the first Dancing with the Stars pro to sustain an injury on Season 33. Rylee Arnold, who is competing with Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik this season, recently sprained her ankle during a rehearsal for the show.
Arnold ended up performing in the next show, and she and Nedoroscik are still in the competition. This week, for Dedication Night, the pair is dancing an Argentine Tango to “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, dedicated to men’s gymnastics.
There are only nine couples left going into Tuesday night’s show, as four pairs have already been eliminated this season. Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below.
Thanks for laying this out so clearly.
