Leah Remini Replaces Matthew Morrison on ‘SYTYCD’
Last month, Matthew Morrison revealed that he was leaving So You Think You Can Dance, explaining that he “did not follow competition production protocols.” He later confirmed that he had sent a message to a contestant, denying that they were flirtatious in nature as was reported.
Morrison had filmed four episodes of the show, meaning a replacement judge needed to be found ahead of this week’s new episode. That replacement has now been announced as actress Leah Remini, best known for her role on the sitcom The King of Queens.
“I am thrilled to join So You Think You Can Dance on its milestone 300th episode,” Remini said in a statement, according to E! News. “I look forward to guiding these incredibly talented artists through this competition as a fan of the show and a great admirer of dancers. I can’t wait to see the artistry that the contestants bring to the stage!”
Remini joins fellow judges JoJo Siwa and Stephen “tWitch” Boss on the panel. The show recently returned to FOX for the first time since 2019, after being delayed due to Covid-19. Remini will reportedly appear on the show starting this Wednesday.

Remini Competed on ‘Dancing with the Stars’
She may be best known as an actress, but Remini does have some dance experience under her belt. In 2013, she competed on Dancing with the Stars Season 17 with partner Tony Dovolani, placing fifth. She later returned to the show several times as either a guest co-host or guest judge.
Remini is also good friends with DWTS pro dancer Cheryl Burke. She was even the matron of honor at Burke’s wedding to Matthew Lawrence in 2019.
The actress has appeared as a guest judge on other talent shows, including The Masked Singer and RuPaul’s Drag Race. She also hosts the Game Show Network show People Puzzler. It will be interesting to see what she brings to the judging table this season on So You Think You Can Dance.
