Carrie Underwood on 'American Idol' Hollywood Week 2026

Carrie Underwood took to social media on Monday night during a new episode of American Idol to respond to the negative response she received from the Hollywood Week audience for her criticism of some contestants’ performances.

Carrie Underwood Responds to American Idol Boos

On Monday night, American Idol aired the second part of Season 24’s Hollywood Week round, as the judges narrowed the competition down to the Top 30. Judge Carrie Underwood didn’t hold back when offering constructive criticism to some of the contestants.

The Hollywood Week audience didn’t approve of some of her comments, even booing her. Underwood took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday night to write, “Boo me. I don’t care.” She added several emojis, including a cry-laughing face.

Underwood shared a similar response in the episode. Before offering her critique of singer Mor’s original song performance, the singer said, “You guys are gonna boo me. You’re gonna boo me. It’s coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me.”

Fellow judge Luke Bryan defended Underwood during the show, telling the audience, “She only won this. She knows.” At one point, Underwood asked Bryan, “Why don’t they boo you?” Bryan replied, “I don’t know, I’m trying to get booed.”

Underwood Teased the Booing Last Month

Last month, Underwood took to X to tease that she got “booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience.” The post backfired, as she received a number of replies from users who criticized her for her apparent support of President Donald Trump.

Underwood performed at Trump’s 2025 inauguration, saying in a statement at the time, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

“We don’t care, that’s what u deserve MAGA girl,” wrote one X user in response to Underwood’s tweet about being booed. Another told her to “maybe try being a better person.”
