‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 32 to Air on ABC, Disney+ Simultaneously
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Months ahead of Dancing With the Stars’ next season, it’s been confirmed that the show will air on ABC once again. After a year on Disney+ Variety has confirmed that the show will move back to ABC.
Fans spoke and the network listened. After only one season exclusively aired on Disney+, Dancing With the Stars will return to its original network, ABC. On May 2, Variety’s sources confirmed that the show will no longer be exclusively airing on the paid platform. Now, on May 3, the network has revealed that the show will simultaneously air on cable and the streaming service.
Dancing With the Stars Set to Air on ABC, Disney+
Following Dancing With the Stars‘s shocking and monumental move to Disney+, the network has reportedly decided to bring it back to cable. Season 32 will broadcast on ABC, while also streaming on Disney+. In addition, the show will be available on Hulu the day after the premiere.
On May 3, Disney opened up about the show’s return to cable. On Wednesday morning’s edition of Good Morning America it was revealed that Dancing With the Stars would be making history once again. This time around, they’ll make history as the first series to ever broadcast on both ABC and Disney+ simultaneously. Due to Disney+’s new commercial feature, this makes a lot of sense for the network. It has not yet been revealed how the show will appear for fans that have subscribed to Disney+’s ad-free platform.

Although disliked by fans, the move to Disney+ brought a whole new edge to the ballroom. Due to the no-commercial format, there was plenty of time for more dancing. In place of commercial slots, trope members often performed a breathtaking, difficult dance. These segments were interesting, due to how difficult they were, but made many upset because you truly had to stay checked in for the entire two hours.
At this time, there has not been an official announcement for the upcoming premiere date. Fans should expect to see the series begin around September, if it’s following suit with older seasons. Many pros have yet to confirm their involvement in the upcoming season, but recently Val Chmerkovskiy confirmed he and Jenna Johnson‘s return to the ballroom.
Diehard Fans Are Able to Return to The Show
Since Disney originally announced DWTS‘s move to Disney+, many fans fell off the bandwagon. No, it wasn’t due to their interest dwindling. They didn’t want to pay for yet another streaming platform. Since the show was exclusively aired on the streamer, no official ratings have been released about last season. Although not stated, some may take the revert back to ABC as a sign that ratings were low.
DWTS Season 32 was already set to be different from the last, before this announcement. As many already know, Tyra Banks will not return to the ballroom this fall. Instead, Julianne Hough is set to join the cast as Alfonso Ribeiro’s co-host.
In addition, this season will feature a three person judging panel- including Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba. Eyes were definitely not dry at the end of last season when Len Goodman surprisingly announced his retirement, and eyes remain wet due to his recent passing.
