David Watson, who auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent a record-breaking 12 times, was found dead in his Manchester home last Thursday. His cause of death is still unknown as fans and peers of the beloved magician express their condolences.

Police entered David’s home after his family expressed concern from not hearing from him in multiple days. He lived alone in Altrincham, Manchester and is said to have been living a quiet life. Reports say his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Fans of the long-running show will remember David’s first appearance in 2008, where he impersonated Tony Blair and William Hague. Since 2013, year after year David returned to the Britain’s Got Talent stage. The furthest the magician ever made it was the second round during the 2020 season when he bantered on stage with judge Simon Cowell.

Fans Remember David

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden remembered David on her instagram:

“So sad to hear that @davidjwatsonbgt has passed away. He was always up for a laugh and such a good sport on @bgt. We will miss him.”

Holden was there every year that David auditioned, and during his 2020 audition she was proud to finally give him a ‘yes’ to the next round.

Fellow judge, David Walliams also paid tribute to the memorable magician.

“He was a wonderful character. Unfortunately, he passed away, but he was a wonderful eccentric and characters like him are really I think the lifeblood of Britain’s Got Talent,” Walliams said during a morning news channel interview.

After his many BGT auditions and mass popularity, David formed an unlikely friendship with Coronation Street actor, Michael Le Vell. The two would meet up once a week at a book pub as their friendship grew.

David also played himself in the film Oh No! Ivor the Dance King and some of his friends try to save the world!!

The entertainer tried everything from magic tricks to impressions and even ventriloquism to try to impress the BGT judges. David showed the power of never giving up while keeping his spirits high enough to come back year after year to achieve his dreams.
