Bella Thorne Exposes Unfair Treatment: Sexualized At 10, Almost Fired From Disney

The Masked Singer alum Bella Thorne has recently reflected on her rise to stardom, revealing that she got rejected for an acting job after a director accused her of “flirting with him.” Such unsettling experience haunts the singer until today, especially as an artist in the Hollywood scene.
Bella Thorne Reveals a Director Sexualized At Only 10 Years Old
In one episode of High Low With Emrata podcast, Bella Thorne explained the cons of being a young woman in the industry. Apparently, Thorne wasn’t spared from being shamed and sexualized, even as an innocent 10-year-old kid. The Masked Singer alum has recounted how a casting director once alleged that she made him “really uncomfortable.”
“I had a director give me feedback once, and I was 10,” she said. “The casting director calls my agent and the agent calls my mom, and they’re like, ‘So, she’s not moving forward because the director felt like she was flirting with him.'”
While Thorne recognizes now that she’s not the problem, she admits that she gaslit to find “fault” in whatever she did. She then went on to express her anger and frustration regarding the negative experience.
“What the f*ck are you talking about man? I don’t give a f*ck, what the f*ck I said. I don’t care if I said, ‘Eat my pu*** right now.’ She is 10 years old. Why would you ever think that?” she said.
For those who may not know, Thorne rose to fame in between 2010 and 2013 after she starred in Disney Channel series Shake It Up alongside Zendaya. Thorne was cast in this series at 12 years old, but had quite the resume at the time. The actress began working professionally at only 8 years old.
Disney Almost Fired Her For Wearing a Bikini as a Teen
However, Thorne’s perceptions of Hollywood’s treatment to females didn’t stop forming at 10. When she turned 14, she was almost fired by Disney channel because she wore a two-piece bikini at the beach.
“This stylist that I was hanging out with put this chain on me that’s like a body chain, I don’t know. I don’t care,” she said. “There was a fan, they got a photo of me on the beach, I almost got fired.”
The same photo went viral and received “disgusting” comments, thus putting pressure on the executive to get rid of her. Disney didn’t do so, but reminded her to wear “board shorts and a loose T-shirt next time.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, Thorne mentioned about changing her naturally deep voice into sweet when she was young. She also confessed lying about her favorite color back then to please people. According to her, these experiences have made her genuinely scared to have a girl child in the future.
