Battle of the Boy Bands Ends in a Dynamite Performance on ‘America’s Got Talent’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
If we know one thing about America’s Got Talent, it’s that the show absolutely loves South Korean boy band BTS. In one segment behind the scenes, Howie Mandel asks Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum to teach him some dance moves. He plays “Dynamite” by BTS on his phone which transitions into an entire boy band battle right before our eyes.
Two Very Different Boy Bands Go Head to Head on ‘America’s Got Talent’
Larger Than Life and Korean Soul are two different boy bands that came onto America’s Got Talent to help launch their careers. Only one of them was a hit with the judges. First up was Larger Than Life who literally named themselves after the notorious Backstreet Boys song. Based on how the editing was done, it was so easy to tell that this group was going to be a bit of a letdown.
They performed a mix of “Larger Than Life” and “Tearing Up My Heart” with matching outfits and out-of-synch dance moves. Just looking at Simon Cowell’s face made it known that Larger Than Life would not be going on to have a success story like One Direction.
All of the judges with the exception of Vergara gave the act their red buzzers. The group looked a bit disappointed but did not let the judge’s critiques break their spirits backstage. Luckily, Korean Soul was waiting in the wings to redeem the future of boy bands on the show.
The four-member group met 10 years ago in a community choir in Seoul. After the success of boy bands like BTS and EXO, Korean Soul has huge hopes and dreams. Their cover of “All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo was flawless. Their harmonies were smooth like butter and more than worthy of a Golden Buzzer. They did not get a Golden Buzzer but certainly earned the love of fans all over the world. They were voted through to the next round by all four judges.
