On Dec 16, Ariana Grande became the first female artist in history to surpass 70 million monthly listeners on Spotify twice. As of right now, Grande has 70,226,192 monthly listeners on the music platform. This makes her the fifth most listened to artist in the world right now below Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and Adele.
When Grande previously hit this mark, she peaked at 82,929,404 monthly listeners. Yesterday, one of Grande’s fans on Twitter shared that she’s the first female artist in history to reach the milestone of surpassing 73 million monthly listeners on Spotify. “Santa Tell Me” Takes its Rightful Spot Next to “All I Want For Christmas is You” in Spotify Streams
On top of Grande hitting gigantic milestones for monthly listeners, her 2014 Christmas song has joined Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and Wham’s “Last Christmas” as the only Christmas songs to surpass 600 million streams on Spotify. To put this into perspective, Carey’s song was released in 2011, and Wham’s classic was released in 1984. This proves that Grande’s song is now getting the large scale appreciation that some of the greatest hits have.
Grande has really shown that the sky’s the limit for her career. At only 28 years old, she has already accomplished so many things. Even though she’s already a huge name in music, she now has the possibility to be known as one of the best singers of the generation.
