The music competition tv series American Song Contest is officially not airing in 2023, as stated in an official announcement. One of the show’s producers confirmed that there are no plans for it to return this year, but they hope for the show’s return in 2024.

There’s No Plans For The Show’s Return in 2023

American Song Contest producer Christer Björkman has delivered unfortunate news for the fans of the show. Björkman announced that American Song Contest will not take place in 2023 while he was attending Benidorm Fest 2023, a Spanish song contest. Mr. Björkman stated in an interview that there are no plans for the show to return in 2023.

Björkman also stated that he is happy with the efforts of the American Song Contest team, but he is unsure if NBC will continue supporting the contest. He also says that it will take around five years for the competition to get established in the US.

“I can get really upset if I think about all the factors that they didn’t succeed with in order for the program to reach out,” Björkman said. “There are a lot of things that I think could have been done differently. In order to get better dissemination and greater awareness that this program would appear.”

Eurovision fans claimed that the show lacked adequate advertising and passion in comparison to its European equivalent. Furthermore, the show’s launch was pushed back at the last minute. Originally planned to premiere on February 21, 2022, the show finally aired four weeks later, on March 21, 2022.

When Will Season Two of American Song Contest Come Out?

The first season of American Song Contest have left fans of the Eurovision song contest wanting more. For those who don’t know, Eurovision is an annual music competition in which various, mostly European nations submit a musical act to perform a song.

American Song Contest was a valiant effort to bring Eurovision Song Contest to the United States, and it succeeded. The winner of season one, AleXa brought her original song “Wonderland,” to the show which helped her beat nine other performers. She then eventually received the title of Best Original Song for “Wonderland.” Additionally, it even got broadcasted by NBC earlier this year.

As of now, discussions are still being made about whether American Song Contest should have a second season. Björkman expressed that he was disappointed about season one of the show. There’s still hope however, as he still shows interest of a second season of American Song Contest on 2024.
