‘American Idol’ Teases Season 24 Contestants in Fun New Preview

American Idol is set to return for Season 24 in January, and the show has released a new preview giving fans a sneak peek at some of the contestants who are appearing this year. The video features clips of the judges having fun during auditions.
American Idol Shares Fun New Teaser for Season 24
During Tuesday night’s Dancing with the Stars Season 34 finale, ABC aired a preview for the upcoming new season of American Idol, which premieres on the network on January 26. The video starts with a clip of a contestant singing a crooning version of “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot.
The show’s judges appear to be amused by the performance — especially Luke Bryan, who stands up and claps. In another fun moment, Bryan joins a group of auditioning musicians to dance. He and his fellow judges (Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood) can also be seen at one point saying, “Six seven!”
Other clips in the preview show various contestants showing off their Golden Tickets to Hollywood Week. This season, Hollywood Week will actually take place in Nashville, as the singers who made it through the audition round fight to stay in the competition.

Fans Recognize Auditioning Singers
Some American Idol fans recognized a few of the singers who appear in the new Season 24 preview, due to their presence on social media. According to Entertainment Now, one of those singers is Trew the Star, who went viral in 2023 for singing in a Waffle House restaurant. He has over 99,000 TikTok followers.
Fans also recognized Jayson Arendt, who is the “Entertainment Player” for the Texas Tailgaters baseball team. His teammates apparently accompanied him to his audition, as they can be seen in their uniforms in the new preview. Jayson has over 38,000 followers on Instagram.
Another singer who caught fans’ attention in the new video is Seth Witcher, who has over 49,000 Instagram followers. He recently moved to Nashville to pursue his music career. Meanwhile, the singer performing “Baby Got Back” has been identified as Trace Casanova, a lounge singer from North Carolina.
