TikTok sensation and American Idol alum Jax collaborated with Drew Barrymore on the latter’s daytime talk show. The two teamed up for on-the-spot street performances and a uniquely entertaining rendition of “E.T.,” by Katy Perry.
Their Collaboration Is In the Perspective of Barrymore’s Character on E.T.
In the iconic tune of the song “E.T.” by Katy Perry, Jax and Barrymore performed a witty skit while singing from different perspectives. Barrymore portrays her character from the 1982 classic film, E.T., a little girl named Gertie, during their collaboration.
The short clip sees the iconic character opening up about the events 40 years later to her therapist (played by Jax). While playing their parts, the two were able to tell a humorous story of what would have happened.
Jax started by singing, “So you mean to tell me that you and your brother hid an alien from your mother?” To which Gertie replied by singing, “Yes! His name was E.T.”
The therapist then brushes off the answer as Gertie talking about childhood imaginary friends. This hilarious duo is quickly going viral online. As of writing, the lighthearted skit has over 18,000 likes on Instagram.
For those who may not know, the fun “E.T.” collaboration comes from Jax’s most recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, where the host sang with Jax on the street. Barrymore sang about how she cyberstalks Jax while the TikTok star plays music on the keyboard. Jax returns the sentiments by captioning that she is going to fangirl over the actress during her guest appearance on the show.
Jax’s Hit Caught the Attention of Victoria’s Secret CEO
Having more than 12 million TikTok followers can get someone with a lot of publicity. For Jax, having that many followers can unexpectedly grabbed the attention of some high-ranking people in society.
Jax released a single titled “Victoria’s Secret,” aimed at people that needed more body-positive songs. The inspiration behind the song was a young girl that Jax used to babysit that had eating problems. The single earned Jax a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
The song caught the attention of the current CEO of Victoria’s Secret Amy Hauk. Hauk wrote Jax a letter stating that she has addressed several issues surrounding the brand’s ideal body type. While the CEO of the brand admits to the past shortcomings of the company, Jax explains her side of the story in a TikTok video.
