Brandon Leake’s Plane Makes Emergency Landing
On Tuesday night, Leake posted a video to Instagram taken through the plane’s window after it landed on the runway in Sacramento, which is where it took off from. He wrote in the caption, “Thank you God for keeping us safe. And shoutout to the pilots for their discernment.”
According to The Sacramento Bee, the Southwest Airlines flight was on its way to Southern California when a bird struck one of the plane’s engines shortly after takeoff. The plane returned to Sacramento. No injuries were reported from the incident.
The flight was also carrying the UC Davis men’s basketball team. UC Davis radio broadcaster Scott Marsh, who was on the flight, posted about it on Twitter, saying passengers heard a “terrible noise coming from the plane’s engine” before the pilot informed them of what happened.

Fans on Instagram Are Glad Leake Is Okay
The comments on Leake’s Instagram video sharing the news of his flight’s emergency landing are full of people expressing their relief that he’s okay after the scary incident. Some people had already read about the situation in the news, while one commenter remarked on how common bird strikes are in Sacramento.
According to The Sacramento Bee, the city is under a major bird migratory route called the Pacific Flyway. It has one of the highest rates of bird strikes in the country, with more than 3,400 reported since 1990.
Leake isn’t the only talent show star to be on a plane that made an emergency landing. Last year, former The Voice coach Miley Cyrus had to make an emergency landing after her plane was struck by lightning on her way to headline the Asunciónico Music Festival in Paraguay.
