‘America’s Got Talent’ Re-Opens Season 15 Auditions — Here’s How You Can Audition
Reading Time: 3 minutes
On Tuesday, AGT announced that the show is re-opening auditions for Season 15. This news comes after production for the upcoming season was halted due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Of course, none of these new auditions are happening in person just yet. Because of social distancing orders, the show is accepting videos online. What does this mean for the future of this year’s show?
‘AGT’ Re-Opens Season 15 Auditions
AGT tweeted the news that auditions for Season 15 of the show have re-opened online. The audition website says people who submit online auditions have a chance to be featured on the show “this summer.”

The show also makes it clear that people should submit these auditions while “safe at home and practicing social distancing.” Hopefuls are encouraged to keep their videos short (about two minutes) and film in a well-lit setting.
According to agtauditions on Instagram, previously submitted auditions for Season 15 will still count, but you’re also allowed to resubmit if you want.
What’s The Status Of ‘AGT’ Season 15?
AGT had already started filming auditions for Season 15 last month. According to Deadline, the show was meant to continue filming through March 20. However, production was halted on March 14 due to social distancing orders surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.

Judge Heidi Klum was absent for part of production due to illness. She was replaced by guest judge Eric Stonestreet. Heidi has since received a coronavirus test, which came back negative.
So why is the show choosing to open auditions again? With the added downtime, it could be a great way to find even more talent. Deadline writes, “The idea is now to extend auditioning to find more stars – a potential silver lining for the long-running format.”
When Will ‘AGT’ Season 15 Air?
Although the audition website says hopefuls could appear on the show this summer, there’s still no guaranteed premiere date for Season 15 of AGT. Like many other shows whose production has been shut down, the future is uncertain.

America’s Got Talent typically premieres in May. However, with coronavirus cases continuing to climb in the United States, social distancing orders could still be in effect by then. Although the show may be able to air what has already been filmed, the production of new episodes could continue to be delayed.
Maybe the show will follow in the footsteps of its UK counterpart Britain’s Got Talent, which has delayed live shows until “later in the year,” even as pre-recorded episodes are set to air in the coming weeks.
The show has always had online auditions which later result in face to face auditions with the producers but the future is uncertain about the next steps.
