Like many other television productions, America’s Got Talent has taken every precaution necessary to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. Especially after the returning judge Heidi Klum fell ill with the virus symptoms, still waiting for the COVID-19 test results. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what auditions will look like without a present live taping audience.
‘AGT’ Cancels it’s On Camera Audience Due to Coronavirus
You heard that right. In an attempt to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus, like many other television productions, AGT is taping it’s auditions without an audience. It’s possible that the show will have to undergo this major format change for the entire season if things do not improve. The Tonight Show and Wheel of Fortune are just a few of the shows doing the same. In the video above, from Sofia Vergara’s Instagram stories, the new judge gives us a glimpse of how the set looks like with not a single seat in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium taken.
The show has reportedly gone one step further and halted production for the next round all together. Now that audition filming has come to a close, it seems producers are in no rush to begin filming for Judges Cuts. The possibility of a delayed air date is likely and could be pushed back several months. The British version of the show is also likely to face similar changes, once it’s live shows begin.
Heidi Klum Coronavirus Scare in the Midst of ‘AGT’ Taping
This news comes after Heidi Klum was unable to attend the third and fourth day taping, in fear she may have the virus herself. Klum announced on social media that she was experienceing symptoms similar to the Coronavirus but was not initially able to get a test. The supermodel was ultimatly able to get tested over the weekend and is self-quaratined awaiting the results. Heidi was replaced by Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet, whom you can see in the above video.
What is Heidi Klum’s Coronavirus status?
Heidi Klum has been very open about her symptoms and has kept all her followers on Instagram up to date with her health. In a recent post (below), she wrote in detail about her week long sickness and having to self distance herself from her husband, who now has similar symptoms. Here’s what the AGT judge had to say:
Like many of you, I also have been sick all week and, unfortunately, my husband who returned from his tour a couple of days ago is also feeling ill. To be safe, we are staying apart until we get the results of our Coronavirus tests (that we were finally able to get today) back.Heidi Klum on Instagram
Klum goes on in her long and detailed message “We don’t want to spread germs and risk others getting sicker… even each other! As much as I want to embrace him and kiss him, it is more important to do the right thing and not spread further. These are strange times… but in these moments, you remember what’s really important- the people you love and keeping them safe. Social distancing is what we all need to do right now to be responsible citizens of the world. [See her post abovefo r the full message]
Heidi also shared the exact symptoms she has dealt with, which include a fever, chills, a cough and a runny nose.
Howie Mandel is Concerned Over his Potential Exposure To COVID-19
Talk about taking things to the extreme, the self-proclaimed germophobe Howie Mandel is prepared for whatever hits him! Last week, the judge wore a hazmat suit and a gas mask to AGT tapings, producing some rather hilarious images that have gone viral online. In a recent interview with TMZ, Mandel says he hasn’t touched Heidi, which gives him hope that he won’t be getting the virus anytime soon.
Mandel also joked about refusing to inhale during this period of uncertainty. Quick disclaimer… Don’t try this! He also posted multiple tips to keep safe from Coronavirus in typical hilarious Howie fashion.
