What’s Katy Perry’s Deal On ‘American Idol’?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
One of the most anticipated aspects of the reboot of American Idol is judge Katy Perry. It started out when it was announced she would receive the ridiculous amount of 25 million to judge. Then it was assumed she would be the new Simon Cowell. She is most definitely not. She’s her own thing…but is that a good thing?
First, there is the incessant flirting, like with Trevor Holmes that makes everyone uncomfortable. Then she’s handing out golden tickets with her feet, she’s falling on the floor and showing her hoo-ha because she’s not wearing any underwear, and generally acting like a weirdo. Then there was the whole Benjamin Glaze thing where she snuck a kiss to a young boy and made him deeply uncomfortable. Then, last night during the group rounds, she told Crystal Alicea, Lee Vasi, Gabbii Jones, and Britney Holmes to choose which one of them was going to go home. Crystal tearfully volunteered and then Katy said she was just testing them.
OK, that was mean. Not even Simon at his worst would have done that. I guess the producers figure it makes for drama and good TV…but does it? Or does Katy just come off as annoying and offensive. I respect her in once sense for not giving a rat’s ass but on the other hand it’s a family show and it’s turning a lot of people off. They are suffering in the ratings against The Voice and need to tell Katy to tone it WAY down. Or else that 25 million will be for nothing.
