Bring The Funny Just Keeps Getting Better, But The Sketches Are Weak

Bring the Funny keeps getting better every single week. There were some seriously solid, truly funny acts. Then there were some that had me confused and holding my cat for protection. Who go through? Let’s see.
Calvin Evans
Calvin had some really great energy and he came up with some pretty funny bits about why he does/doesn’t want to be a father. He would get a little mush-mouthed at times in his delivery. He needs to annunciate. BUT that aside, he was seriously funny.
Handsome Naked
I’m a comedy nerd going way back to when I was a kid. This is something I’ve never seen before. Hip Hop comedy. These guys have no future as rappers but their act could work as comedy. It’s silly, but it’s a little much. I mean, I got it but I didn’t GET it, you know?
Kristin Key
A musical act can sometimes be a hard pill to swallow. But for some reason Kristin’s song about how Cinderella is really annoying was really funny. She’s a great performer, great singer, and very smart. I feel like this is an act you need to be smart to appreciate. Luckily, I’m a genius.
Candice Thompson
It’s nice to see an intelligent act that’s about the crap that women have to do to make men happy. She started a little slow and built to the end, which is a gamble but I think it worked. Because if you start off hot, you have nowhere to go. She left herself the room to build on what came before. A really well-crafted act.
Drennon Davis
This act was weird and it was montaged so it’s hard to know exactly what was going on. But I kind of want to see more and not because he has a puppet. I repeat, NOT because he has a puppet.
Andrea Lopez
Honestly, I kept forgetting these were all the same woman. She’s one of the best impressionists I’ve seen in a long time. But it wasn’t just her Khloe Kardashian or celeb impressions that were great but the Chad character was hilarious too. Get this woman to SNL STAT. And the bit where she recorded a message for Khloe as Khloe with Chrissy was really cool…even if Chrissy got in trouble.
Lost Moon Radio
Oh God. This is why I stopped doing improv: how obnoxious the people who do improv are. They think they are so clever. But they are way less clever than they think they are. I didn’t laugh once but was just desperate to end. And the name? Lost Moon Radio? Yuck.
Kids These Days
First of all…see what I wrote above about how annoying improv people are. Like, too much and “on” all the time. This is a weak ass premise. It was not even high school worthy. They liked them
Ali Siddiq
OK, now we’re back to some funny. This guy’s delivery was something else. His bit about moms being cheap on father’s day was really funny. Ali was really seasoned and you could tell he’s done this a lot. Kenan knows him and respects him. That’s a huge complement.
