18 Year Old ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Star Passes Away Weeks After Family Tragedy

The Britain’s Got Talent family is mourning the loss of 18 year old Oran McConville. McConville was apart of a school choir that competed on the series in 2017. The singer was called a “natural performer” by Simon Cowell.
BGT Star Oran McConville Dies at The Age of 18
Britain’s Got Talent is mourning the loss of 18 year old Oran McConville. The contestant passed away following a car crash. His demise unfortunately comes six weeks after his father’s.
McConville was found in the front passenger seat of a grey Volkswagen Golf on April 5, 2025. The singer was unfortunately pronounced dead after the accident. The driver of the car was arrested on scene.
The 18 year old took part in BGT’s 2017 series as part of St. Patrick’s Choir. The choir sang Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know” in their viral audition. St Patrick’s Choir reached the semi-finals of the season.
McConville’s death comes after his father, Paddy, “suddenly” died on February 21. In 2009, sister Rachel was killed after being hit by a car.
The 18 Year Old Was Called a “Natural Performer” at Funeral
McConville’s mass took place in Drumgath, Co Down. While speaking about McConville, parish priest Charles Byrne described the singer as a “natural performer” who “got away with more mischef than most” throughout his life, as per DailyMail.
“At this time, we are all lost for words. Words are woefully inadequate to express the pain and the sorrow in our hearts that we have for you,” Byrne added.
Drumgath GAC, the Gaelic Athletics club, where the singer played football and later coached at, described him as “kind, gentle, full of humor, and always up for a chat.”
“He had time for people, young and old, and brought joy to those lucky enough to have known him. Whether it was on the football pitch or in the heart of the community, Órán carried himself with warmth, respect, and quiet charm,” the club said.
At this time, Britain’s Got Talent has yet to share a tribute to the young singer. Many expect that BGT will add a dedication card for the singer at the end of the upcoming episode.
